Tata Curvv vs. Nexon: A Simple Design Comparison

Tata Motors has just introduced the Curvv, India’s first SUV Coupe. It will be priced on August 7th. Let’s compare the design of the Curvv with the Nexon to highlight their key differences.

Tata Curvv vs Tata Nexon Size and Segment

  • Curvv: About 4.3 meters long, classifying it as a compact SUV. It will compete with models like the Hyundai Creta and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara.
  • Nexon: Slightly under 4 meters (3,995 mm), fitting into the sub-4-meter SUV category.

Tata Curvv vs Tata Nexon Space and Dimensions

  • Curvv: Larger dimensions and a longer wheelbase mean it offers more space inside and a bigger boot compared to the Nexon (382 liters). While the exact width and height of the Curvv are not yet known, its sloping roofline might reduce rear headroom slightly. However, it is wider than the Nexon (1,804 mm).

  • Rear Styling: The Curvv’s raked windshield and clean rear design offer a sleeker appearance compared to the Nexon.

  • Curvv: Expected to include a 12.3-inch touchscreen, dual-zone climate control, heads-up display (HUD), electronic parking brake, and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), which are not available in the Nexon.

  • Curvv: Available in both ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) and electric versions. The electric Curvv may have a larger battery with a range of 480-520 km, compared to the Nexon EV’s 465 km. The petrol version could feature a new 1.2-liter turbo engine with 125 PS and 225 Nm. Transmission options might include a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.
  • Nexon: The petrol engine offers 120 PS and 170 Nm, with transmission choices including a 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual, 6-speed AMT, and 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. Diesel variants use a 1.5-liter engine with 115 PS and 260 Nm, with 6-speed manual and 6-speed AMT options.

Tata Curvv vs Tata Nexon Pricing

  • Curvv: Expected to start at around Rs 20 lakh for the EV and Rs 11 lakh for the ICE models.
  • Nexon: Starts at Rs 14.49 lakh for the EV and Rs 7.99 lakh for the ICE models.
