Thalapathy Vijay to Focus on Politics, Plans to Leave Acting

Thalapathy Vijay, after launching his political party in February, has announced that he plans to leave acting to focus on his political career. This news surprised fans and raised questions about his future projects, especially his role in Lokesh Kanagaraj’s cinematic universe (LCU), which started with the 2023 film Leo.

Vijay’s Role in Kaithi 2

According to recent reports from IndiaGlitz, while Vijay may not appear on screen in Kaithi 2, the next film in the LCU, he will likely lend his voice to the project. Director Lokesh Kanagaraj had previously mentioned that Kaithi 2 will include all characters introduced in the LCU so far. This means characters like Kamal Haasan’s Vikram, Karthi’s Dilli, Suriya’s Rolex, and Vijay’s Leo/Parthiban are expected to return. However, Vijay will contribute only through a voice role. The film is expected to be released by the end of next year.

The LCU Universe

The LCU, created by Lokesh Kanagaraj, currently includes three films: Kaithi (2019), Vikram (2022), and Leo (2023). This universe features a star-studded cast including Fahadh Faasil, Vijay Sethupathi, Trisha Krishnan, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Sarja, and Arjun Das. Lokesh Kanagaraj plans to expand the LCU with more films like Kaithi 2, Vikram 2, and a standalone film focusing on Suriya’s character, Rolex.

Vijay’s Upcoming Film

Currently, Thalapathy Vijay is working on his next film, The Greatest of All Time, directed by Venkat Prabhu. This film marks the first collaboration between Vijay and Prabhu and features a notable cast including Prabhu Deva, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Jayaram, and Mic Mohan. The Greatest of All Time is a sci-fi action film set to release on September 5th. The film’s music is composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, with cinematography and editing by Siddhartha Nuni and Venkat Raajen, respectively. AGS Entertainment is producing the film.

David Warner Not in Australia’s Plans for Champions Trophy 2024

David Warner retired from all cricket. He wanted to play in the Champions Trophy. Also, he was ready if needed. However, George Bailey, the team selector, said Warner won’t play in the Pakistan tournament.

“David is retired and deserves praise for an incredible career in all three formats,” Bailey said. “We’re planning for the Champions Trophy without him in Pakistan.”

Bailey also mentioned that Warner’s comments might have been made in jest. “You never know when Bull’s joking… he’s had a wonderful career, and as time passes, his legacy will only grow. It’s an exciting time for the team as we transition to new players in all formats,” he added.

Warner had recently hinted at a possible return in a social media post, thanking his teammates and fans after Australia’s exit from the T20 World Cup, his last international tournament.

“I will continue to play franchise cricket for a while, and I am also open to playing for Australia in the Champions Trophy if selected,” Warner wrote.

Warner retired from the 50-over format after Australia’s World Cup win last year and played his last Test earlier this year against Pakistan. Over his career, Warner played 383 games for Australia, scored 18,995 runs, and won two ODI World Cups, a T20 World title, and a World Test Championships title.
